Help on Podcasting

What is podcasting?
Podcasting is a way of distributing and receiving audio content at no cost. Podcasting makes an audio file, typically an MP3, MP4, or M4A file, available to you via an automatic "feed." You can then hear the podcast whenever you want from your computer or a portable media player.

What do I need to listen to podcasts?
You can listen to a podcast on your Windows or Mac computer by using podcasting software (provided your computer has a sound card and can play audio files). There are many free and commercial podcasting software applications available for download. Here are a select few.

If you want to make your podcasts portable, you can transfer them from your computer to your iPod or other MP3 player.

What does it mean to "subscribe"?
If you subscribe, your podcasting software will automatically find and allow you to hear any new Point of Light podcasts as they are added here. By using the iTunes icon above, you can subscribe to our podcasts with just one click.

If you don't see a button for your preferred tool, you can simply copy the URL above and paste it into your podcasting software. PC users, right-click on the URL above, and select "Copy" or "Copy Shortcut." Mac users, control-click on the URL above, and then select "Copy Link." If you are using iTunes, you will need to open the Advanced menu, select the Subscribe to Podcast item, and then paste the URL into the field and click on the OK button. If you are using iPodder, go to the Subscriptions tab, click Add New Feed, and then paste the URL into that window.
